Edible Crayons

This was a project I have been planning for months. I wanted to do it for back to school, but it did not happen. That is ok, because I printed up the ones that just said Crayons on them. I might have had to thick of card stock. I had to use the hard reusable slurpee straw the girls keep for no reason at all but to take space up in the drawer.

The girls had fun & LOVED to eat them. It was the prepping of the card stock- Hailey & I rolled it out and put it in this glass bowl you see.
I had to cut them down. What I saw online was they
had gotten the big rod pretzel sticks and broke them in half. I just happen to stumble across honey what already this size pretzels. I could not pass that up! They tasted really great.. I wasn't sure since you only dip the end in chocolate. But it was nice with the sweet chocolate taste and the salt on the pretzel.

Making a 1st grade learning binder for Home

I started this binder for my daughter, because I feel like she needs more help on school. I took some pictures, but they are very blurry- so those are to come.. I just searched for 1st grade work & got a lot of information for teachers or home schooling. I am very excited! I also just google things that I know she needs help on, as in telling time. Due to budget cuts last week my daughter was out of school for a week & since it was so close to the beginning of the year & she is focused on learning, I did not want to lose momentum.
My mother watched her during the day and they had lessons that they did. It went well, we have been really practicing the "frequency"/"sight" words.

~Sorry it seems to be so long~ I added some pictures and her binder is NOT 100% the way I want it, but we can still have her learn and that is all that matters..

Days of the week- I cut this out and laminated it!

Counting quarters and the letters and tiles.. need to be cut out and make words with them..

I will have to add more photos of more pages..And add links

Making Candy Buttons

 Making Candy Buttons:
Very easy to do, this recipe makes a lot!
I only used 4 colors: green, yellow, pink & lavender.
You can find tons of recipes online for this, but I really like the following blog:
http://whatwillwedotoday.com/2011/07/12/recipe-candy-buttons/

I like that they have a dotted sheet. I started one & I get to "perfectionist" on it.
We had so much leftover that I was doing their names, stars, hearts, etc..
I really like all the pastel colors that What will we do today had on their site! After awhile the girls were done. They just could not wait to eat them. We had to lay it out in the office and wait 24 hours! I added flavor to 2 colors, a raspberry and vanilla. Both were ok, the raspberry was not that good.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tbsp meringue powder (or 2 egg whites)
  • 6 Tbsp water
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (use vanilla, lemon, peppermint, coconut for different flavors)
  • 1 pound confectioners' sugar (1 pound = 7 cups)
  • decorator bags or sandwich bags (1 for each color)
Make sure when you cut the tip of the bag off, it is still small, not too big.
