Hot Cocoa Cubes

.Danika found this in an American Girl Magazine. I had to search for it online so I can see what we are to use. I bought this silicon ice cube trays. All we had to use is chocolate morsales with whatever flavoring and pour into the trays. I used peppermint it the chocoalte and the white. Now you print out a lable, I made my own. This is really delicious and                                                very rich. You put this one cube in 8oz of hot milk and stir. We packed them up                                            and gave them out to teachers, friends, and neighbors.

Making your own candles for Christmas

Haiely had found this on YouTube and wanted to do it, I thought it would be a great idea for teachers and neighbors. I like thgis idea and I think I will do more and more as different Holidays come up.
I used 2 different things for the wax instead of straight crisco.

DIY Holiday Hot Cocoa Candles

The greatest thing about this idea is that I was able to get all these cups at the Dollar Store. Use your coupons for Michaels. I love it! I had Danika write her own note for the cup for her teacher.

Did you know that if you stuck a candle wick in a can of Crisco that it could burn constantly for up to 48 days?
What you will Need:
6" wicks or longer and cut them
Crisco
Soy Wax
Crayons to make the color you desire

To Assemble:
You can be like me and just fly by the seat of your pants or you can be like 85% of the population and read the directions and measure it all out exact. I like to guess alot and I am usually not off by much. I can always add more right?
You can take the crisco and meausre how much your mug takes with how much Crisco you are going to need. Break up the colors of crayons you want and add  it to the Crisco, the difference I did here is that I added my soy wax. On the blog I read this off she used Crisco only and added the soy wax as marshmallow which I did also.
I used my hot glue gun to glue the wick to the mug. Heat up your Crisco and crayons in the microwave for 30 seconds intervals. Stir and heat until it is all done, then pour into the cup.
I put them in the fridge because I was in a hurry. So that we can add the sprinkles and things on top. The girls had to go to bed. I had sprinkles in the cabinet and I had to buy the candy canes.
While the candle is cooling, we will work on the whip cream looking wax- start melting some of your soy wax. Do not melt it all the way, just enough that it liquifies a little and then it clumps looks like whip cream. For marshmallows: melt soy wax in a rectanlge or square mold. I cut it up on chunks in every which way. Hailey helped by rubbing the edges on the napkin and I used my hands. Made my hands really really soft.
Then Decorate as you wish!

Ornaments for Christmas

Glass ornaments with shredded colors and stickers on the outside to decoreate.

This was easy, we also did ornaments with crayons that turned out amazing!

Both ornaments take the clear glass ones.
With the melted crayons, we picked 3-4 colors took 1/4 of the crayons and add into the glass ball. I used a hairdryer and heated up the crayons then once heated, move the ball around so the crayons color the inside of the ornament. I really like this idea. It is fun, it is customizable.
The girls picked out their own colors and they used the hair dryer but I held the ornament. The glass gets really hot and so I used this towel around it.

Danika chose purple, blue, white and some red

Hailey used these colors.

Failed Valentine's Idea

I asked my neice what she would like to do for Valentine's day. I had found this super cool hear pocket that we add gum to.  She was not the excited about it, so I told her to search pintrest and let me know what looks fun for her. She picked this fortuune cookie made out of fruit roll up. I did not really think about it, we just went and grabbed fruit roll ups and she wrote out her fortunes..
After we were folding them and trying to put them in the bags, I realized that this is not nice or cool. I started really thinking about it and I had to brek it down for Samantha, I said we are going to give each of your students a 2" fruit roll up. Does that sound fun? She started thinking and said I can not pass this out. So we had to have all the girls eat up what we just cut up. I wish I would have talked her out of it, but I did not want to pressure her into something she was not feeling. So I called this one a #fail!

2nd Graders Valentines Day Class Ideas

Danika's teacher asked me to do a project for the class for Valentine's Day. I did something for them on Halloween and they really enjoyed it and so did I. So I take this as a total compliment to do this..
I searched for several things online and so I picked 2 things to do with them. One is an actual activity and the other one is craft. I must admit, I had a rough weak and missed count the bags for the craft project, thank goodness that the teacher had other small bags. They were smaller, but that is ok because I was missing 10 bags, felt so bad! But teachers are good at flying off the cusps.

So we played hot lava. I got poster boards and cut 2 large hearts out of the poster baord, We had 4 teams of 6, it was like a relay race. You had to step on the hearts to get across with out touching the floor. It was so much fun and I had popsicle rings for the winners..
The other thing we did was just brown lunch bags with hearts that I cut out and they glued on the bag. We had stickers and foam hearts, it went quick.
I only had about 30-45 min to do all this and it was worth it!!
Hope I can do something for St. Patty's Day!

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day 2014

I have several ideas we were doing for this Holiday. I lagged on my wreath, I stared some but have not finished it, but I will so I guess I can have it for next year! Not to make this sad, or to make it long- my sister passed away at the age of 39 in the begininig of Jan this year, and I made a promise to myself to put more effort into hanging out and actually doing something with my 2 neices. So every Sunday I have been getting them and tying to do something crafty with them. Our first thing was to make a heart wreath for each of them. This was actually an expensive project..
Linda said if you put around your neck, you can
see where the glue is and take it off..
She is so funny!

Items you will need:
Dollar Store heart shaped containers
Dollar Store tray- I got the black ones and cut the middle part out
Hot Glue
Glitter
Ribbon

I let them each have their own glue gun and they had at it. They had a good time and they can take them home and each have them in their own room.

I did see them a week later and the hearts were falling off. So I am not sure if they did not add enough glue. All the matters is that they had fun!

This is the start of my heart wreath: This one was a little bit more expenisve, I had to buy it all from JoAnn's.
I borrowed a Sizzex machine from my friend because I had no item to cut the felt.

I have to cut out 100 2" circles and I think I have gotten to 40 so far.
all that matters is I got my kids to get their stuff on time..
I found this item on Etsy, I can see why t he charge what they charge.

You will see the end display in a couple of days, I will post it!
